David Johnson, PE

Director of Civil Engineering

David Johnson provides leadership of DMA’s design, construction contract administration, and management services for civil engineering projects for our St. Louis office This includes site development, transportation and transit, streetscape improvement projects, right-of-way plans, utility design, grading, drainage, and inspections. His professional skill and oversight have been essential on projects focused on design for infrastructure improvements, storm and wastewater systems, healthcare projects and educational facilities. David and his team work with DMA’s clients from the early planning stages all the way through bidding and construction.

David takes pride in his ability to solve problems, a characteristic he developed as a boy growing up on a Missouri farm. From an early age he wanted to know, “how do things work?” On the family farm, where corn and soybeans grew, David investigated rural systems seeking to maximize the efficiency of the world around him – a natural engineer.

In his spare time, David loves to be outdoors – biking, hiking, camping, and gardening – with his three kids. Not surprising that David’s favorite memory from travel was hiking the Inca Trail through the Andes Mountains to Machu Picchu – where he could see first-hand a marvel of civil engineering from an ancient civilization.
