Structural Engineering Project Manager
Garrett Corbett leads the DMA Chicago Structural team with over 13 years of experience in engineering and managing complex projects for various market sectors including education, healthcare, commercial, residential, power/utilities and security projects. Garrett received Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Architecture from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and is a licensed Structural Engineer in the State of Illinois, a licensed Professional Engineer in various states, and an LEED AP BD+C accredited professional.
While attending the School of Architecture at UIUC, Garrett was selected to participate in a year-long study abroad program in France at L’Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Versailles. During his travels, Garrett was drawn to learning more about building structures, which segued into pursuing an M. Arch degree with a Structures focus, eventually leading to a career in engineering where his passion to problem solve distinct challenges continues today.
With a broad experience in structural engineering, architecture and sustainability, Garrett is proficient at coordinating and managing projects involving team members of various disciplines. His strong architectural background and respect for each project’s unique design vision enables Garrett to be an asset to project teams, providing engineering consultation that combines aesthetes, structural performance and constructability for innovative cost effective solutions.
Garrett is passionate in mentoring his staff and teaching younger generations about the role of a structural engineer and the importance of designing safe structures for society that will stand the test of time. As an active member of the ACE Mentor Program over the past 10 years, Garrett volunteers to mentor high school students who are interested in the building/construction industry pursue a career in the field of architecture, construction or engineering.
