Garrett Corbett has over 13 years of experience in the analysis, design and project management of extensive and complex structures. His broad background in structural engineering, architecture and sustainability has helped in developing a unique proficiency in providing senior-level technical direction to his structural staff, and coordination and consultation to all project team members. Garrett’s team has successfully completed an assortment of small to large scale projects in various market sectors including education, healthcare, institutional, commercial, residential, power and security projects.
As a native Chicagoan, Garrett’s captivation with architecture began at an early age with the world’s most magnificent skyline always within view. Garrett often played tour guide for visiting family members – proudly showing off his city’s greatest architectural and engineered feats. While attending the School of Architecture at UIUC, Garrett was drawn to learning more about the building structure, which then segued into an engineering career where the passion to problem solve distinct challenges continues today. His strong architectural background and respect for the design vision of each projects enables Garrett to be an effective team member, providing engineering consultation that combines aesthetes, structural performance and constructability.
Garrett believes strongly in passing along knowledge and spreading the word of structural engineering. As an ACE Mentor for over 10 years, Garrett actively volunteers to help high school students who are interested in the building construction industry pursue a career in the field of architecture, construction or engineering. Garrett is also active in outreach opportunities within the building community and supporting the public’s perception and understanding of the role of structural engineers and their importance to designing safe structures for society.
