The Muny Renovations

In celebration of 100 years of providing an outdoor theatre experience to the people of the St. Louis region, The Muny underwent extensive renovations to the site, stage, orchestra pit and stage side buildings. David Mason + Associates (DMA) provided civil engineering and survey, including 3D scanning services, on an as needed basis.

DMA was responsible for defining the scope of additional survey needed and assisting the design team in preliminary concepts for utility services to and from the renovated space.

Survey services included 3D laser scanning and providing a point cloud for modeling of surface features (building walls, beams, columns, other structure features, ductwork, piping, plumbing, electrical equipment, lighting, etc.). DMA then processed and registered the 3D scan data using Trimble Realworks and prepared the BIM modeling of selected features to a Level of Detail 300.

DMA provided project management of the civil engineering design for the total renovation of the stage and stage equipment at the Muny, including demolition and site improvement plans, analysis of the drainage areas on the project site, and submittals for permits from the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District.
