Northwestern Medicine Bronzeville Outpatient Center

The new Northwestern Medicine Bronzeville Outpatient Center is a 120,000 SF multi-story medical office building with ground floor retail, community space and clinical programs including primary care OB/GYN, cancer center, wellness labs, pediatrics, imaging, ophthalmology, and physical and occupational therapy. Parking for approximately 300 vehicles is provided in an attached 135,000 SF multi-story parking garage.

David Mason + Associates structural engineering services included the five-story building’s full design with basement and mechanical penthouse. The building’s structural system is composed of a hybrid system which includes reinforced concrete at parking garage levels and structural steel supporting clinic spaces and the roof. Reinforced concrete shear walls are provided to resist wind and seismic lateral forces. A deep foundation system composed of belled caissons to hardpan are required to support the building.
