SLUH Medical Campus
A collaboration agreement between SSM Health, Saint Louis University, and SLUCare Physicians requires the replacement of the existing Saint Louis University Hospital facility and development of an Ambulatory Care Center to consolidate outpatient diagnostic, clinical, and patient treatment services which are currently fragmented across multiple service locations. The project goal is to achieve a resulting hospital program of approximately 600,000 building gross square feet (BGSF), and a new Ambulatory Care Center facility of approximately 200,000 BGSF. A new central utility plant is to be included to serve the new facilities.
The hospital, ambulatory care center and required parking facilities will be developed on approximately 13-acres north of the existing hospital. Site work will include this parcel, plus the site on which the existing SLU Hospital and West Pavilion are located.
David Mason + Associates (DMA) is providing all civil engineering services for this project. Our work includes design phase and construction period services for the following:
- Demolition and site preparation
- Site plans
- Grading and drainage plans
- Utility services and utility relocation plans
- New electric substation plans (site related work)
- Erosion and sedimentation control plans
- Storm water management and detention
- Regulatory approvals and permitting assistance
The Project presents some significant design and construction challenges as many surrounding medical campus facilities must remain in service during the redevelopment. Two public streets will be vacated and associated utilities must be relocated with minimum disruption.
All documents are being prepared in AutoCAD Civil 3D. DMA will develop a digital terrain model for the project site to be used in conjunction with the geotechnical report to quantify the quantity and quality of excavated materials.
