QAQC Engineers (Structural Engineers) ALL OFFICES

David Mason + Associates is looking for experienced and technically focused Professional Civil and Structural Engineers to support the internal QA/QC processes for all DMA offices and locations.

This part-time, fully remote role is a perfect opportunity for any recently retired engineer who isn’t quite ready to give up their passion for design just yet! We are seeking a QA/QC Engineer to implement DMA’s QA/QC plan in a strategic and organized approach to ensuring high quality deliverables. Our preferred candidates live within a commutable distance to one of our established offices, and/or is willing to travel to DMA offices and project sites, should in-person attendance be necessary. With an average of 15-20 hours worked per week, our ideal candidates are as described below:

QA/QC Engineer – Structural

  • Holds a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Holds PE in Missouri, Illinois (SE preferred), Pennsylvania, or Florida (or, ability to attain this licensure)
  • Prior experience as engineer in structural design & analysis of building structures, framing & foundations, establishing structural designs based on IBC/ASCE requirements, including building loads, creating structural narratives & calculations of the gravity & lateral systems.
  • Prior experience as a project manager, or discipline manager, overseeing structural design.
  • Prior experience in providing QA/QC support to other civil engineering teams and projects.

Essential Duties

  • Review, maintain & update the development of DMA’s internal QA/QC processes.
  • Support the Project Coordination team in development of project timelines and spreadsheets works with team to maintain the schedules and keep project timelines updated.
  • Attends Team, Project and other staff meetings as requested or as needed.
  • Works with discipline and division leadership to best determine QA/QC assignments.
  • Works approximately 10-20 hours per week, this may vary based on project deadlines and company work loads.
  • Reviews and provides feedback for project documents and drawings for all assigned projects.
  • Follow and abide by the DMA employee and safety manuals
  • Completes other duties as assigned

Education & Experience

  • Holds a bachelor’s degree or equivalent education from a 4-year college or university in the field of civil and/or structural engineering
  • Has a minimum of 20 years’ experience in design, management, or construction engineering projects

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations

  • Maintained Licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) is required
    • Preferred states are Missouri, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Florida.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Able to be seated at a standard workstation for 75% or more of workday
  • Able to use desktop, laptop and/or tablet computer and smart phone for 75% or more of workday
  • Able to occasionally travel both locally and long distance
  • Work performed with typically be in an office environment with moderate noise level
  • Work may be performed remotely based on company & Division’s in-office attendance policy
  • Occasional travel to other offices or vendor/company partner locations may be required
