MoDOT Highway PP

Resurfacing

This project consisted of resurfacing approximately 2.15 miles of two-lane Highway PP in Jefferson County, Missouri, adding two-foot wide shoulders and correcting horizontal curves to the extent possible within the existing right-of-way.

DMA prepared a Request for Environmental Services to initiate the Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process.  We provided support documentation necessary to obtain a categorical exclusion for the project. The project included a somewhat unique challenge in that several trees to be removed on the right-of-way were the preferred roosting locations for an endangered bat. Consequently, there was a limited window in which they could be removed.  Since the project could not be started before the window closed, MoDOT removed them with their own forces.

Our civil engineers prepared construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates for the project. We also provided technical support to MoDOT for open house meetings with residents and other stakeholders.
