Quincy Veterans’ Home Master Plan

The State of Illinois Capital Development Board wished to embark on an expedited six month planning effort for the preparation of a comprehensive Master Plan to define the future of the Quincy Veterans’ Home campus for the next 50 years. The campus currently consists of approximately 37 buildings constructed between 1886 and 2002.

As part of the HOK team, DMA is currently providing civil and structural engineering services for the preparation of an overall comprehensive Master Plan to guide future new construction and improvements on the campus over a 50-year period. This requires careful consideration of the existing campus facilities when determining the best course of action for providing a safe and secure environment for the facility’s occupants. This planning effort also requires an assessment of the current infrastructure with a critical analysis of how to achieve compliance with current energy and sustainability requirements.

The team is conducting the research, documentation, evaluation and presentation of concepts that articulate a unique vision sensitive to the Veterans Home’s core purpose and functions, while preserving and improving the overall character of the campus environment. Phased development and implementation of the Master Plan is required to allow priority projects to move forward while completion of the overall Master Plan is underway. An overall Master Plan with a 5 year, 10 year, 20 year and 50 year phased implementation plan is
required as part of the overall project.
