Electrical Substation Design
DMA has performed substation design projects of all
voltage levels up to 345 kV. From concept through
design, construction and commissioning, our projects
have included replacement, upgrades and installation of
transformers, circuit breakers, disconnect and circuit
switches, protective relays, control panels, communication
systems, and supporting devices.
DMA works with our customer’s personnel to fully
understand the scope of a project, and to ensure that
industry standards are maintained, and that client specific
standards and preferences are incorporated into the final
documents and adhered to in the field. Our experience
has taught us that consistency and uniformity is
imperative, especially when replacing similar components
within the same power transmission or distribution system.
Poles and Towers
DMA provides many services related to pole and tower
design. Our recent experience includes execution of wood
pole inspection programs, lattice tower inspection and
design, structural mono-pole design, foundation designs,
existing condition reports, recommendations, final design
documents and construction phase services. DMA utilizes
the most up-to-date design software including PLS
Tower/Pole, 3D modeling software and foundation design
software packages to provide the utmost quality and
value.
Substation Security
As the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) guidelines and requirements become more stringent, our utility customers are putting an increased focus on substation hardening. DMA has been actively involved in these security solutions. Working closely with utilities, we manage permitting, design ballistic fencing installation, perform wetland mitigations and develop site storm water solutions. As Homeland Security concerns continue, DMA will work with our partner firms and customers to service these increased physical and technological security demands.
Surveying/3D Scanning
DMA has a wide range of experience when it comes to creating base documents from existing field conditions.
These base documents serve as a platform from which every successful project begins. Our survey teams perform topographic surveys, long range routing surveys, utility locates, vault and manhole surveys, 3D scanning, and GPS surveys and perform easement and Right of Way preparation. DMA also performs gas utility location surveys, transmission line surveys with RFID markers and 3D scanning of all types. In our continuing effort to provide a safe working environment, all of our teams are trained for traffic control and certified to work in confined spaces.
